Lenovo has launched a new smartphone in the A-series mutely and it is the A5000, in Russia. In the while, the smartphone is listed in Lenovo's official UAE site without price info. The smartphone is priced at 12,000 RUB which is approximately Rs.14,500 and is available to buy now in Russia. As of now, there are no announcements about the release in other markets.

It is a dual-SIM smartphone which running on Android v4.4 (KitKat) out-of-the-box. 

A retailer named Mahesh Telecom posted in Facebook that the Lenovo A5000 has been launched at Rs.10,250. We can anticipate Lenovo India to reveal it soon!

Processor & Memory

The Lenovo A5000 is powered by a 1.3GHz quad-core MediaTek (MT6582) processor bundled with 1GB of RAM and Mali T760-MP2 GPU. The smartphone comes with 8GB of internal storage, which is further expandable up to 32GB via microSD card. 


It sports a 5-inch HD (720x1280 pixels) IPS display giving a pixel density of 300ppi. The smartphone features rain and splash-proof screen protection.


It sports an 8MP autofocus primary camera with LED flash while there is a 2MP fixed-focus front-facing camera.


The surprising feature of the Lenovo A5000 is it's large 4000mAh battery which is expected to deliver up to 17 hours of talk time and up to 792 hours of standby time on 3G networks. Lenovo claims that the A5000 Quick Charge feature allows the battery to get fully charged in 3 hours and a 15-minute charge gives up to 4 hours of talk-time. 


The official listing of the Lenovo A5000 clues that the handset might just support 3G connectivity and not have 4G LTE support which is the most common feature of the recently launched phones.

Apart from 3G, Lenovo A5000 offers some common features like GPRS/ EDGE, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, GPS/ A-GPS, Micro-USB, and Bluetooth.

Other Features

The smartphone measures 140x71.4x9.98mm and weighs 160 grams. It is listed in Black and White colours. The smartphone comprises of sensors such as accelerometer, ambient light sensor and a proximity sensor.

We can anticipate Lenovo to launch the A5000 smartphone in India soon which will target the economy-range. Recently, Lenovo has also launched Lenovo A6000 Plus and Lenovo A7000 smartphones with 4G LTE support in India and they have attained a good position in the affordable-range category.

The Lenovo A5000 has got some decent specs with a beast 4000mAh battery! Once the price is revealed by Lenovo we can tell whether the phone is a worth for that price range. Let's see what Lenovo does with the A5000 in the smartphone market!
