Gionee just recently launched another flagship phone, the Gionee Elife S7 in India. Not only is it loaded with top of the line hardware and software but also has a really slim profile. It's thickness just measures up to 5.5mm. Guessing whether it’s just the battery thickness or the phone right? It is the phone! Now being priced at Rs.24999 (around $400)!

Originally the phone was revealed to the much benefited audience at MWC 2015, the company president of Gionee "William Lu" briefly explained the reasons for the phone not getting slimmer than its predecessor. "We believe Elife S7 will bring the future of slim smartphones to the next level. To make ever-slimmer phones, compromising on performance and function is pointless. Manufacturers should offer more features benefiting user experience other than just slimness" There were several reports from users of Elife S5.1 stating the poor batter life. Our guesses Gionee doesn't want to shed inches but give a better user experience especially in battery life.

This time around Gionee has given us a U-Shaped design which quietly resembles aviational characteristics! Now its surprisingly made aluminium and magnesium alloy for the infused frame maintaining structural integrity. At the event Lu also revealed E8 Flagship series which would launch soon. Getting two flagships at one time is going to bring their sales expectation down. Gionee promised to bring in other phones for mid-range market, M-series and P-series.

Lu added that the 80% of the upcoming phones will be LTE-enabled as there is a growing demand for LTE-smartphones. Gionee has iterated as it primarily said about our presidents MAKE IN INDIA scheme. Gionee India CEO and MD Arvind Vohra has started looking for places for its factories. We think it’s a great scheme specially for the Indian Economy. Production kicks off in 2H of 2015. Coming to the hardware and software i.e. specifications, the Elife S7 is a dual-SIM smartphone running Amigo 3.0 UI on top of Android 5.0 Lollipop. You can always install Google Now Launcher to make it feel like stock Android.

It’s powered by a Mediatek MT6752 SoC with CPU featuring octa-core 64-bit supporting A53 cores running at 1.7GHz which may seem like snappy performance and GPU featuring a Mali T760 MP2 running at 700MHz. It is coupled with 2GB of RAM which is more than enough in today's world of smartphone usage unless you really need it!

For the display department it is powered by a full-HD (1920x1080) resolution with the ever beautiful Super AMOLED screen giving a 424 ppi. You won’t be able to make out one pixel separately .

The camera department sports a 13-megapixel autofocus sensor with a LED flash which should fulfil a photoholic dream. The front camera features 8-megapixel sensor to fulfil your selfie needs.

Connectivity features 4G LTE(TDD bands 38,39,40; FDD bands 3,7),GSM and HSPA. It has a dualband Wi-Fi with 8B02.11a/b/g/n, Bluetooth connectivity, GPS/A-GPS, USB-OTG, and FM-Radio.

It packs a 2700mAh battery which can last for one full day according to Gionee. The device just like Samsung offers a Extreme Mode which can make your 10% of battery life last for 33 hours and 45 minutes precisely on standby.

The phone is measures 139.8x67.4x5.5mm, and is certainly slimmer than it was expected weighing at only 127 grams making it unbelievably light!

Our Vedict!

Frankly coming to its worth is your call! If you really want a slim n sexy yet powerful phone go for it! But have a little less in your budget to go for OnePlus if weight and slimness doesn't matter! It’s your call in the end of the day.

We would love to hear your opinions about the Gionee Elife S7! See you in the discussion section!
